In-home Consultation and Assessment

Happy senior couple at homeAn In-Home Consultation and Home Assessment are the first steps.

Senior Living In-Home Consultation

During the In-Home Consultation, we will discuss with you your needs, wants, wishes, and priorities for now as well as in the future. We will talk about your budget and what you are willing or able to invest in your home for making any changes.

If necessary, we will also involve members of your family, caregivers, occupational therapists, or any other health care professionals in the consultation to discuss specific needs and concerns. In some instances, the health care professional may provide a written evaluation report that describes your strengths and limitations. Their report may also itemize or prescribe certain types of equipment that is recommended for your use that needs to be incorporated into the design for your home.

Senior Living Home Assessment

The second step, the Home Assessment, is a thorough evaluation of the inside as well as outside areas of your home that may need to be modified to address the needs and concerns discussed during the consultation. The Home Assessment will provide a detailed list of changes that could be made to improve the safety and livability of your home. It will include any changes that may be needed to accommodate specific challenges you may face such as

  • Mobility, balance and standing
  • Bending and reaching
  • Sitting
  • Grasping and holding
  • Hearing or vision loss
  • Loss of sense of touch
  • Memory loss

The Home Assessment will also address the feasibility of making the desired improvements within your budget.

After the Home Assessment is done and we have a clear picture of your needs we move on to the next step, which is Design.
